The coast offers high potential for export crops, especially after laws passed during the nineties to raise property limits and allow their transference. Similarly the introduction of the ATPDEA, a US measure that gives preferential treatmento to more than 6000 products from Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador for its entering the US market without paying tariff until 2006, allowed an increase in 41.7% of earnings from non traditional agriculture and cattle between 2001 and 2003 to US$ 619 million. |
