Jan 15-20 Lima Foundation Week.
Official celebrations of the founding of Lima by the Spaniards on January 18
Jan 24-31 National Contest of La Marinera, Trujillo. Annual competitions for this traditional dance.

Feb 14
Virgen de la Candelaria - Puno.
"La Mamita Candicha", patron of Puno, is honoured with continual demonstration of rich folklore. Thousands participate in the parades, dances, fireworks and music of this important religious event.
Feb 24-27 Carnival in Puno and Cajamarca. Carnival is especially celebrated in these two cities with "La Pandilla" dancing and traditional festivities.
Mar 4-11 The vendimia Festival - Ica. The grape harvest of the Ica Valley is celebrated with parades, dances and happy revelry involving the region’s most important product, wine.
April- 3rd Week National contest of Paso Horses - Lima. This exhibition and contest in Mamacona, 30 Km south of Lima, has the participation of breeders from the most important regions of Peru.
June-
Day changes
Corpus Christi - Cusco.
One of the most beautiful displays of religious folklore, the Procession of the Consecrated Host takes place in the gold monstrance of the Cathedral.
June 24 Inti Raymi, or Festival of the Sun - Cusco. This ancient festival is staged at the Sacsayhuaman Fortress overlooking Cusco and involves authentic Inca rituals, parades, folk dances and contests.
Sep - 4th week International Spring Festival - Trujillo.
Oct 7-20 Lord of Luren - Ica. Thousands of pilgrims pay homage to the patron of Ica, with the main procession on the 17th.
Oct 8 Battle of Angamos. Celebrations within the Naval forces.
Oct 18-19 & 28 Lord of the Miracles - Lima. A massive procession in honour of Lima’s patron saint takes place on the 18th.
Oct - 4th week Bullfighting Season. An international competition is held at Rimac, Lima, in the oldest bullring in America.
Nov 1-7 Puno Jubilee Week.
Puno celebrates its founding by Spaniards, followed by a fascinating re-enactment of legendary founders of the Inca Empire, Manco Capac & Mama Ocllo, emerging from the waters of Lake Titicaca. This week sees the best of Puno´s folkloric festivities, including "La Diablada" dance.
Dec 24 Festival of Santuranticuy, Cusco. Native Andean toy fair.

Nation-wide commemorations.
In Cusco, the spectacular procession in honour of the patron saint "El Señor de los Temblores".
In Tarma, the people make carpets of flowers to cover the streets for their evening processions.
(Half day holiday on Holy Thursday, full day holiday on Good Friday).
